The band is named after the spellbinding coastline on the mainland of the Shetland Islands where the forefathers of the singer came from.

Eshaness-Das Schild zum Name

The music

Esha Ness plays Volcanic Rock.

The spirit of various folk-music elements is given by Kevin´s New Zealand/Scottish roots and the time he spent in Spain learning guitar. The pulsating beats and rhythmns of Africa influenced Markus who lived several years on the Ivory Coast. Janina’s accordeon and violin playing reveals many East European and Romany influences. The core though, is a clearly defined rhythm-based rock with catchy melody lines and poignant lyrics, all of it driven on by Johannes' powerful guitarsound.

The story

Esha Ness was founded in Summer 2005 at Lake Constance, Southwest Germany.
Kevin, Johannes and former drummer Björn Giesche had been playing in various projects before they met up with bass player Markus. After the first rehearsal sessions they started recording a five-track EP called “Mystery Trip“ in the winter of 05/06. This was about the time when multi-instrumentalist Janina joined the band - first gigs and small tours through Germany and France were started.
In the Spring of 2007 they launched another tour through Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. In summer the band set off to Berlin to make their first album entitled “Point of No Return“, containing 11 songs. It was recorded in Nuphobia studios by Phil Freeborn (Nikki Sudden) and produced by guest-drummer Rainer Baumgartner (The Durgas) in collaboration with Esha Ness. New drummer Florian Fierz joined the Band in 2008, new songs were written and many gigs were played. The band recorded in fall 2008/spring 2009 their new CD "Wide awake before dawn".

After touring 10 days through Germany in March 2009, Esha Ness shared the stage with bands as Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish), Lacrimas Profundere,Elane, Omnia etc. at the 2 biggest european Mediaval-& Fantasy Festivals in Germany and Netherland in September. In October the band supported Ray Wilson / Stiltskin in the renowned LKA-Club in Stuttgart.

2010 was the most successful year up to now for Esha Ness. We played a very successful Germany-supporttour as special guest for New Model Army´s "Today is a good day"-tour in spring 2010.

Currently Esha Ness are writing new songs and booking concerts for 2014.
